2014 Arabian Sangiovese
We are off to the races with The Triple “R” Ranch & Winery Arabian Sangiovese! The label features Prospector and our winemaker’s daughter Becky moments before she learned just how rambunctious Arabians can really be! This divinely aged red is the Texas version of an Italian Chianti and marries beautifully with sweet BBQ sauced ribs and brisket. This light-bodied, well developed Sangiovese holds deep flavors of red currant, strawberry and wild cherry. The finish is defined by it’s soft, but integrated tannins.
Appellation: Texas High Plains
Aging: 21.5 months stainless steel tanks
Look: Bright color of ruby-garnet and an orange hued rim
Smell: The nose has concentrated aromas of sour cherries, strawberry jam and an intense earthiness of red clay soil and humus.
Taste: Sangiovese is the American version of Chianti. This light-bodied and well developed Sangiovese holds deep flavors of red currant, strawberry and wild cherry which flow at mid-palate, while the finish is defined by it’s soft, but integrated tannins.
Legend Of The Ranch Story: At the time of purchase of The Triple R Ranch, the Ross family found themselves the owners of two beautifully spirited Arabian horses. They were magnificent to watch; playful and at times a little rambunctious. Prospector, was the first horse raised at the Triple “R” Ranch & Winery, now home to several rescue horses. The Arabian Sangiovese features Prospector with the Ross’ daughter Becky and a friend moments before the young girls learned just how rambunctious Arabians can really be! Ever since their adventure with Prospector, Becky has steered clear of riding at the ranch but enjoys loving on their rescue horses!
