Description
2010 Mountain Lion Meritage
From time to time, crossing of mountain lions at The Triple “R” Ranch & Winery is evidenced by prints visible after a hard rain. This decade old red wine has the expected tertiary wood flavor profile that has helped to retain its structure and keep enticing the most sophisticated palate. Aged 2 years in stainless steel tanks followed by another 2 years in French oak barrels. In order to be given the classification of Meritage (a combination of the words Merit and Heritage), this wine must adhere to very strict guidelines of blending specific varieties in the Bordeaux tradition. Our 2010 Mountain Lion Meritage is a blend of Cabernet, Malbec, and Merlot grapes with aromas of dark fruits, fig, green pepper, leather an anise. Subtle notes of rich vanilla bean and mocha on the mid-palate are followed by a long-lasting mouth-filled finish. Take this home with you for your next grilled and smoked red meat companion.

Legend Of The Ranch Story: The rough and tumbled landscape of North Texas between Waco and the Red River is not unfamiliar territory to the Mountain Lion. From time to time, their crossing of The Triple R Ranch is evidenced by prints visible after a hard rain. Discovery of these sizable prints motivated the wine club to name their Meritage after this spirited beast. In order to be given the classification of Meritage (a combination of the words Merit and Heritage), this wine must adhere to very strict guidelines of blending specific varieties in the Bordeaux tradition. The extra-tenacious classification of wine has as much tenacity as these mountain lions brought to the Ranch!
